Angra Mainyu (“Destructive Spirit”, Middle Persian: Ahriman) is the supreme evil spirit in Zoroastrianism. He opposes Ahura Mazda and the Holy Spirit (Spenta Mainyu). He is the source of all evil, death, and destruction. Also personified as the demon Eshm (wrath). He will ultimately be defeated at the end of time in the cosmic renovation (Frashkart).
