Jamasp Namag

The Jamasp Namag (Book of Jamaspa) records the prophetic declarations of Jamaspa, Zoroaster’s son-in-law and sage at the court of King Vishtasp. It contains some of the earliest Zoroastrian prophetic literature.

Structure

  • Chapters 1-6: Core prophecies — Jamaspa advises Vishtasp; coming rulers; time of Ushedar
  • Chapters 7-10: Five traits declarations (possibly a later addition)

  • Chapter 5: Rulers after King Vishtasp — Zoroastrian era history
  • Chapter 6: Time of Ushedar, the first Saoshyant millennium
